The first thing you’ll notice about the Speedmaster Racing (other than some of the dial colors), is the size. It’s a very appropriate 40mm nod to the past, and looks even a tad smaller due to the bezel sitting outside of the crystal. Second, the sub-dials are textured with a triangular “Clous de Paris” pattern. While they create a nice contrast from the rest of the dial, I’m not sure how necessary they are to the design. None the less, a touch many will appreciate.
The dial of the timepiece offers perfect readability. It is completed with SuperLumiNova-coated indexes and hour and minute hands. A small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The easy-to-adjust date function is presented via a small window at 6 o’clock. Dial comes in a variety of colors (see below).
The movement inside the Speedmaster racing is a reliability Valjoux 7750 chronograph automatic.
The watch comes on a black rubber strap with a distinctive embossed pattern that bring to mind the treads of a race car’s tires.
